The American spirit will be on fully display on November 11 at one of the largest Veterans Day programs in the region.

The program will get underway at 1 p.m. and feature Henning students in grades K-6 who will sing songs in honor of those who served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard, while also paying tribute to the families of veterans as well.

The program is open to the public, both veterans and those who have never served in the military, as the greater Henning community gathers to honor the sacrifices and contributions made by veterans. Following the program, pie and coffee will be served in the cafeteria.

As part of the Veterans Day program, Jennie O’ Turkey Store has donated 12 frozen turkeys to the Henning American Legion, which will be given away at a drawing immediately following the Veterans Day program at the school.

Veterans, retirees and current military (or their spouse/widow(er) can register at either B&D Foods prior to Veterans Day, or register at the school prior to the start of the Veterans Day program. To be eligible to register for the free turkey, the veteran or spouse needs to reside in the Henning School District and be living in the school district for Thanksgiving.

If an eligible veteran is unable to register themselves, one designated representative may register their information in the drawing. One entry per person. Winners must pick up their frozen turkey before November 18, or a new winner will be drawn so all of the turkeys have been distributed prior to Thanksgiving.
