Valentine’s Day is such a fun day for all ages. This year for Valentine’s Day maybe you’ll want to find yourself snuggled up with a child or grandchild and a fantastic Valentine book. We have two great books to feature this week.

“The Valentine Bears” by Eve Bunting with pictures by Jan Brett is a fun book to start with.  The book jacket reads: Because Mr. and Mrs. Bear always hibernate in the winter, they have never celebrated Valentine’s Day.

This year Mrs. Bear decided things will be different. Just before she and Mr. Bear settles down for their long winter’s sleep, she sets her alarm clock for February 14. When the alarm goes off, Mrs. Bear gathers some of Mr. Bear’s favorite treats. Then she brings out two valentine poems that she herself has written.

But alas, bears are meant to sleep through the winter, and no matter how hard Mrs. Bear tries, she can’t seem to wake Mr. Bear.

Our second book is “You’re a LIttle Kid” with a Big Heart by Bernard Waber.  This book jacket says on a perfectly ordinary day in the perfectly ordinary life of a seven year old, a most extraordinary event occured.

Octavia Blisswink was miraculously granted the universal child’s wish to be grown up and free to make her own decisions.  Octavia could, at long last, override parental objection and decide for herself about watching “The MIghty Monster Show” on television.

What happened to Octavia, and how she came to set it right again, involved a magic kite, a swift transformation, and tearful parents.  This is a heartwarming funny story that you will enjoy immensely.

The Henning Public Library wishes everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day.
