0• “How do I know my ballot will be counted?”
• “Is my polling place safe and secure?
• “How does absentee or mail-in voting work anyway?”
• “How do we prevent voter fraud?”
• “Who actually keeps our votes secure?”
On Friday, Oct 2, at 3 p.m. at VFW Post 3289 in New York Mills, we’re pulling back the curtain on how voting works. We will have election experts explain election laws, mail-in voting and how they complete their work on election day.
Everyone is welcome to join us at VFW Post 3289 located along Highway 10 at 120 N. Boardman Ave, in New York Mills for a cup of coffee, good conversation and the Trusted Elections program.
Elections don’t just happen. They are run locally by our neighbors, trained and experienced in being election judges. They work with our county to tabulate results and report them to the state. It takes election officials at all levels of government working together. Cut through the misinformation, ask questions, and learn directly from those who do the work to keep our elections free and fair. This program is free and open to all and is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of East Otter Tail County and the League of Women Voters of Minnesota.
Thank you to VFW Post 3289 in New York Mills for hosting this event. These brave men and women have protected American democracy since they joined the military in their youth. We appreciate the members’ and auxiliary members’ dedication to their fellow veterans and to the citizens of the United States.
