To the Editor,

People have talked to me with concern about the Satanic holiday display in the Minnesota State Capitol. It appears to be a phoenix with a pentagram, suspended overhead. Governor Walz says such displays are protected by the First Amendment. “Minnesota Satanists applied through the Department of Administration, which manages the capitol grounds, to set it up near the first floor rotunda from Dec. 13 through 27, according to the permit obtained by WCCO.” (CBS News).

Christians are to witness, invite people to church, and certainly pray. While there is also a Christmas tree in the rotunda, perhaps a Christian advocacy group might seek to obtain a permit to put in the rotunda, an equally large crucifix which is the central message of the Christian faith (1 Cor 2:2). After all, the First Amendment applies to “all” religions and expressions of religion.
