Legend has it that when Paul Bunyan was trekking across Minnesota he left large footprints across the state. These footprints then filled up to become our 10,000 lakes. This iconic lumberjack can be viewed in many locations around Minnesota;  Akeley, Bemidji, Brainerd, Hackensack, and the Mall of America just to name a few.

Although Paul Bunyan is the main character of many tall tales, he is not a real historical figure.  The moral of Paul Bunyan’s adventures is you have been given gifts, use those gifts to accomplish kindness and show others you care.

Our featured book this week is “Paul Bunyan’s Sweetheart” written by Marybeth Lorbiecki and Illustrated by Renee Graef. The book jacket cover reads, “When Paul Bunyan meets pretty Lucette, he knows she’s the gal for him. After all, she’s so tall she can’t fit into an ordinary cabin. She can churn butter into a thick creamy river, and when she cleans house she can twirl up a tornado! Why, it’s a match made in heaven!  But to win Lucette’s heart, Paul must prove his worth in a love test.”

This book has beautiful illustrations that help the mind to imagine all the wonder that comes with a Paul Bunyon story.

Come on up to the Henning Public School Library and see what we have to offer in the way of Minnesota books. We would love to help you check out just the right book for you.  We are open Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:30-5:30 p.m. following the school calendar.
