As I was reading the Advocate report of the scholarships awarded to this years’ graduates and several alumni, I felt proud of this community, especial of one alumni. Thank you!

Education has become an expensive venture. Many adults are still paying off college expenses long after graduating. Yes, there are scholarships “out there” — students must search and apply for them. They aren’t as easy to get as the ones awarded recently in Henning, but it can be worthwhile.

Parents—have you taught these young adults to express their “thank you” to these donors? Emily Post’s guidelines for good manners seems to have been dumped in the garbage. We can’t let that happen!

Come on students—get those “thank you’s” sent!
