Library Happenings

Henning School

The mission statement of the Lions Club International states “Lions serve. It’s that simple, and it has been since we first began in 1917. Our clubs are places where individuals join together to give their valuable time and effort to improving their communities, and the world.”

The Henning Public School library has received from the Henning Lions Club $500 and from the Urbank Lions Club $300.  These two clubs believe in the library’s goal of raising $100,000 to replace over 46 percent of our junior non fiction and junior fiction books that are outdated and worn.  With these two donations totaling $800 the library will be able to purchase between thirty and forty books.

The library is working with a book company that will give us 100 free books for every $5,000 of books that are ordered. As funds come in, book lists are made to coincide with publishing companies that can fulfil the topics that the library is working to replace. The library is looking to purchase books on community helpers, fire and rescue squads, ambulance services, the police, and civic groups.

The library is truly grateful for each dollar that is donated. Please stop up to the Henning Public School library and let us show you all that is happening.  We look forward to seeing you.
