0Henning Landmark is seeking volunteers to help with a Community Mural Painting Project, scheduled to beautify main street with new artwork on the Landmark Gas Station building. This project is one of six arts workshops included in a 2026 MN Legacy grant received from Lake Region Arts Council.
Mural artist Chalsey Falk has designed artwork to be painted by community volunteers, now scheduled for Aug. 12-14 (weather permitting). We hope to fill three shifts per day, two hours per shift, 8-10 a.m., 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. The design will already be traced onto building, so volunteers only need to paint by number. All materials and refreshments will be available. Please call to Volunteer, or scan QR code on our poster to choose a shift.
The mural will include a map of Otter Tail County celebrating the 2025 extension of the Otter Trail Scenic Byway to include Henning and Parkers Prairie. Please sign up to help us complete this project.
Artist Michael Weatherly will host a two day Linoleum Cut Printmaking workshop at the Landmark Center on Saturdays, Aug.15 and 22 from 2-5 p.m. A $45 registration fee includes all materials, instruction, and tools to carve a soft linoleum sheet, and make multiple ink transfer prints. No prior experience is necessary, just bring your creativity and an idea of what type of print you would like to create. “These activities are made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from Lake Region Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage fund.”
Mark your calendars for our Annual Corn, Brat, & Burger Feed scheduled for Thursday Aug. 20, 5-7 p.m. in the Landmark patio area. This event will offer a free-will meal including freshly cooked sweet corn from Buehler’s, grilled brats and burgers by Chef Doug, silent auction items, root beer floats, and live Bluegrass Gospel music by the Spindler Family. Come celebrate summer with friends, family and neighbors in the heart of Henning.
Please remember the Landmark Center is available for your public or private gatherings, receptions, reunions, workshops. We have five air conditioned guest bedrooms with two shared baths on our second floor, with bedspace for 10 overnight guests. Please call 548-5760 to RSVP. www.HenningLandmark.org
