0Hoping for your vote for county commission
To the Editor,
My name is Robert (Bob) Lahman and I am running for re-election as your county commissioner for District 4 of Otter Tail County.
I have lived in Parkers Prairie since I was a young boy. My family dairy farmed in Eastern Township. My brothers and I attended and graduated from Parkers Prairie School. Alex Tech was my next stop for a course in diesel mechanics. Over the years I have owned and operated three businesses in Parkers and a small farm. After 23 years of township government I was elected to a county commissioner seat in 2022.
While on the county board we (the board) have worked on many projects to better life in Otter Tail County. Preserving EMS services has been a focus of mine. At the state capitol I advocated for reutilization of ash from the garbage incinerator in road use. I serve on the Otter Express board and we are working to save and expand public transportation in the county. The board has championed housing in the county with apartments in Pelican Rapids and low incoming housing in Dalton. We continue to work on parks and trails, including the Glacial Edge trail. Much work has been done at Phelps Mills—restoration of the mill, a fishing pier and primitive campsites. The new solid waste transfer station will soon be completed near Henning. Parkers Prairie is the next town to get a new highway department garage. Family resource centers are expanding services to families and Parkers will have new services by the end of 2026. This is funded by non levy (tax) dollars. The county probation system has been changed to better serve clients using less dollars. The board hosts open house events in various towns and we work with township government and lake association groups. Election integrity is always top of mind with our board.
If re-elected I will continue to serve district 4 and welcome any input from residents.
Sincerely,
Robert Lahman
