Oh how I love summer and the heat of the sun, sitting out on the deck with a large glass of fresh lemonade and listening to the birds chirp.  So in honor of lemonade, I’m sharing my favorite homemade lemonade recipe with you this week.  It takes about 30 minutes of preparation, cooks for about 5 minutes, along with an additional four hours of cooling time.

This recipe makes ten 8oz glasses of fresh lemonade.

You will need 1 3/4 cups of white sugar, 8 cups of water, 1 1/2 cups of fresh lemon juice.  In a small saucepan combine 1 cup of water and the sugar and stir continuously until dissolved.

Over medium heat, continue stirring until it boils.  Remove from heat and let it come to room temperature, then cover this syrup and refrigerate until cold.

At this stage, I also like to put my tall glass cups in to the refridgerator so that they are very cold as well.  Juice approximately four large lemons.

When the syrup is completely chilled, mix it and the lemon juice along with the 7 cups of remaining water into a large pitcher.  This is very delicious and you’ll want to enjoy it with several friends on a deck in the warm sun with laughter.
