The Landmark Center has had a few busy weeks with our first two legacy workshops now completed. These included a two-day printmaking workshop for eight people with Mike Weatherly of Elbow Lake last weekend, and a two-day relief wood carving workshop for eight with master carver Clayton Johnson of Albert Lea.

Workshops were two of six scheduled this year that were funded by a Legacy Grant from Lake Region Arts Council in Fergus Falls. Our third Legacy workshop is Watercolor Batik Painting by Ruth Hanson of Vining, scheduled for next Saturday. Three additional workshops coming later include Wet Felting, Acrylic Painting, and a five-day Pottery Workshop. Please watch for date and registration information. “These activities are made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from Lake Region Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage fund.”

Adding to the Landmark Center activities this week, members of the “Say Yes to Henning School Referendum” committee met to produce multiple May Baskets to help get out the vote on May 9. Information sheets are available at the Landmark Center for anyone wanting to learn more details about this referendum vote.

The ninth annual CHAT Bike Rodeo is scheduled for next Tuesday, May 9 from 5-7 p.m. at the Landmark Center. There will be 12 new bike giveaways, free helmet fittings, bike safety checks, obstacle course, drag racing, and a free picnic dinner. Thanks to all sponsors of new bikes and volunteers for helping with this wonderful community event.

Get ready for a safe and healthy summer of biking and outdoor activity.

The Viking Library Bookmobile visits Henning every other Tuesday with next visit on May 9 from 3:30-4:45 p.m. in front of the Landmark Station building. Order books and videos online and have them delivered to Henning.

Mark your calendars for hazardous waste collection at the county garage near fairgrounds on May 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and a return of the Henning Spring Fling at the Fairgrounds on Saturday, May 13.
