Landmark Center

Dan Broten

Henning Landmark Center is thankful for the support we receive from our community, our members, our donors and all who take advantage of the treasures we have to share with you all. Beyond the multiple art workshop opportunities made available throughout the year, Landmark Center also provides space for private and public meetings, workshops, receptions, family gatherings, reunions and retreats. Our second floor retreat center has five bedrooms with space for 10 overnight guests. We also have free community Wi-Fi and  Smartroom technology for virtual meetings.

The Landmark Center is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, our history museum has a collection of local Henning artifacts, and our gallery space displays artworks by a variety of local artists.

The Landmark Center is open Tuesday and Thursday from 1-4 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and anytime by appointment. Please come in to take a tour, or call 548-5760 to reserve the Landmark Center for your future events.

We encourage you to support the Landmark Center through membership, or participation in the many activities we host throughout the year. 2024 will mark our 15th year serving this community and we trust it will be filled with many new events and opportunities to explore.

Beyond membership and private donations, Landmark benefits from grant funding from sources including The Art and Clarice Espeland Family Foundation, The City of Henning, Lake Region Arts Council, the Minnesota Legacy Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, the Minnesota State Arts Board, Lake Region Electric Cooperative, Arvig Communications, the Minnesota Historical Society, Thrivent Financial and more. As a 501c3 non-profit, all donations to the Landmark Center are considered tax deductible.

Minnesota Legacy funding provides projects grants, legacy grants and operating support grants. In 2023, the Landmark Center had five art workshops funded by one legacy grant, including printmaking, wood carving, acrylic painting, watercolor batik painting, and a five-day pottery workshop. Through a second legacy grant, the Landmark Center acquired nearly 50 new art inspiration books now available for youth and adults to check-out and explore new artforms and artists.

“These activities are made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from Lake Region Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage fund.”

Celebrate the upcoming holidays with friends and family and look for a new schedule of activities for 2024 as they become available.

Santa Day is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 2, with open house starting at 10 a.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit from 2-4 p.m., food will be provided by Henning Lions from 2-5 p.m., a lighted community parade begins around 5 p.m. with lighting of our Community Christmas Tree around 6 p.m. followed by caroling around the tree and firepit.  Hot chocolate and cookies will be provided by local church youth groups and the Landmark Center remains open for a warming house.  Thank you for making our community a place for all to be included and welcomed. Hometown Henning.
