Artist Ruth Hanson will host a watercolor and gouache painting workshop at the Landmark Center this Saturday, Aug. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A $35 registration fee includes instruction and materials. Only a few spaces remain, call 548-5760 to RSVP. 

Writers group with Jan Smith will meet at the Landmark Center on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. to continue gathering Henning related stories that may be used in book about life in our town. Please join us in person or submit any short stories from past or present to be considered. We are also seeking any older photos from Henning and our region that might help tell the story of our past. Photos may be scanned, and originals returned to you. Please contact Dan at 548-5760. The next meetings are Aug. 17, 24 and 31 at 1 p.m.

The annual corn and brat feed is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 27 from 5-7 p.m. at the Landmark Center. Join us for a free-will meal of fresh sweet corn, grilled brats, chips and a drink. Live bluegrass music will be provided by the Skally Line. Kids activities will include the Scribbletastic Fun-O-Matic Command Post with free drawing opportunities. Silent auction items will be available as well as ice cream novelties. Help us celebrate late summer under the big top with friends, family, and neighbors.

Our readers group, Beverage and a Book, will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 31 from 2-4 p.m. to discuss “The Things I Want my Daughter to Know.” Copies of this book are available at the Landmark Center for those wishing to join the discussion. A reminder that the Viking Library Bookmobile arrives in Henning every other Tuesday, parking at the Landmark Center from 3:30-4:45 p.m. Books and DVD’s may be special ordered online and available for delivery via Bookmobile. 

The next bookmobile visit will be Aug. 17 and 31. Coming up in September, artist Mimi Seykora will host a 7-day ceramics workshop at the Landmark Station building. Participants will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout September including dates Sept. 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, and 28. You will have the opportunity to work on several ceramic projects of your choosing. Pieces may be created on Pottery Wheel or with Hand-Building techniques.
