Welcome to summer and congratulations to all the Henning graduates from the Class of 2026. Wishing you the best as you move forward in your new life adventures.

The Landmark Center invites you to attend our annual meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, June 10 at 5 p.m. Help us celebrate our 17th year with new activities and opportunities. 

You are invited this Thursday, May 28 from 1-2:30 p.m. as Tracy Bye hosts a free community discussion about end-of-life peace, “Good Death/ Good Life Café.” Please call Tracy at (612) 791-0133 for more information. 

The Viking Library Bookmobile visits Henning every other Tuesday, stopping in front of the Landmark Station from 3:30-4:45 p.m. Our Book Club, “Beverage and a Book,” meets at the Landmark Center every fourth Tuesday from 2-4 p.m., with our next meeting scheduled for June 2 discussing “The Reader.” 

Mark your calendars for a free family fun evening performance by the Schiffelly Puppets, Wednesday June 24 at 7 p.m. This free indoor event is brought to Landmark Center by the Viking Library with MN Legacy Funding. 

Artist Ruth Hanson will host a two-day painting workshop featuring Independent Layering using collage, graphics and acrylic paint to create in-depth artwork. Workshop is scheduled for Thursday, June 25 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and Saturday June 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Space is limited, please call 548-5760 to RSVP. This is the first of five 2026 Workshops made possible with MN Legacy Grant funding. 

Look for details on future workshops including McKenna Osmondson Youth Clay and Glass Mosaic Tile for youth and adults (July 21-28), Chalsey Falk Community Mural Painting at the Landmark Station exterior, (Aug. 10-15), Michael Weatherly two-day Linoleum Cut Printmaking (Aug. 15 and 22), and Mimi Seykora five-day pottery workshop in September. “These activities are made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from Lake Region Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage fund.” 

New York Mills Cultural Center will host a free two-day “Art in the Park” workshop for youth at Landmark, currently scheduled for July 8 and 29 around 10:30 a.m. Call ahead to confirm dates. 

The Historic Henning Walking Tour is scheduled for Thursday July 9 at 7 p.m., beginning at Landmark Center. Historian Chris Schuelke will guide us through our past. Two people mover trailers will be available for those not wishing to walk. Registration fee will benefit research at the Otter Tail County Historical Society. 

The Annual Corn, Brat and Burger Feed is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 20 from 5-7 p.m. at the Landmark Center with free-will meal, silent auction and live Bluegrass Gospel music by the Spindler Family.
