Landmark Center

Dan Broten

Happy New Year from the Henning Landmark Center. We anticipate another year filled with activities, workshops, and events for all ages and interests. The Landmark Center has received two significant grants that will help us provide many opportunities for our community this year.

We have received an Operating Support Grant from Lake Region Arts Council that will provide $8,000 to help with expenses for annual utilities and salary.

In addition, the Henning Landmark Center also received a Legacy Grant that will allow us to offer six arts workshops and demos throughout 2023 with little or no fee to participants.

These workshops include: wet felting, watercolor batik painting, two-day printmaking, two-day relief wood carving, acrylic painting, and a five-day pottery workshop.

“These activities are made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Lake Region Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage fund and in part through a Minnesota State Legislative general fund appropriation.”

We will certainly add additional workshops and activities to our schedule and hope that you will take the time to join us when possible.

Beyond arts activities, the Landmark Center will be hosting several community events including a monthly book club, destination for bi-monthly bookmobile visits, corn and brat feed in August, summer car show, CHAT Bike Rodeo in May, summer reading series, historic Henning walking tour, and Art of the Lakes Studio Tour in July, pie and pumpkin Oktoberfest and of course Santa Day activities in December.

The Landmark Center also offers space for public or private meetings with access to free indoor or outdoor Wi-Fi and Smartroom technology for video conferences, rooms for family gatherings, reunions, showers, retreats, and bed space for up to 10 overnight guests, surrounded by a beautiful outdoor garden and patio area. We also have a collection of local historic artifacts in our museum area.

Our facility was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2021 celebrating nearly 80 years serving our community since 1914 as Medical Clinic and Doctors Residence.

Since opening in 2009 we have been available as a center for our community with ever expanding activities and awareness of all we have to offer.

Please consider the Landmark Center for any of your future events or gatherings. Call 548-5760 for more information.
