Library Happenings

Henning School

We have four new books in the library that are a part of the Wilderness Ridge series.

The first featured book is “Duck Hunting Dreams,” written by Monica Roe and illustrated by Johanna Tarkela. Hailey is a 12-year-old duck hunter who is trying to prove to her family that she is ready to be in the duck blind. Cocoa is her young dog that her family does not approve of. Hailey is hoping that Cocoa will prove her worth and show them she is a true retriever.

Our second book is “Lure of the Lake,” written by Art Coulson and illustrated by Gregor Forster. Rhiannon and Harley are twins that have a great competition amongst themselves.  They live in Oklahoma and are excited to travel to the northern portion of Wisconsin where their grandparents live. They enjoy the lakes with boating and swimming and most of all fishing. By the end of summer these girls will learn the importance of teamwork.

Our third book is “Trophy Buck” by Art Coulson and illustrated by Johanna Tarkela. At age 12, Rodney Locust is getting to attend the annual deer hunt in eastern Oklahoma on his parents’ allotment in the hills. Rodney must first take hunter safety and he is not so thrilled about it.  He would rather just go hunting. Discovering there are valuable lessons in hunter safety might be the most important thing Rodney will do while in Oklahoma.

“Turkey Hunt Tradition” is our final book of the four book series. It is written by Monica Roe and illustrated by Gregor Forster. April is a 12-year-old who is passionate about woodworking and hunting. Her grandfather took her under his wing and taught her everything she knows.  But this year he is out due to surgery and can’t go hunting. Will she have what it takes to get the turkey on her own? Will she believe in herself?

Come on up to the Henning Public School library between 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and check out our wonderful space and all the books we have to share with you. We will have the coffee on waiting for you.
