Library Happenings
Henning School

Henning Public School library wishes everyone a Merry Christmas.  The year 2024 seems to have gone by so fast.  The library is so thankful for all the wonderful people who have given so generously to our Pages for a Purpose campaign.  We have improved the library immensely, adding many new books, dispensing of old and worn out books and adding new library furniture.  The atmosphere is so inviting and calm, as a library should be.

In 2025 there will be more changes to our library.  Currently, the high school/adult side of the library is a work in progress.  The nonfiction section is being culled and with that, new and updated books are being put in.  Our current inventory of books shows an average age of 32+ years old.  Most library standards like to see the average age of nonfiction books to be between 5-10 years old.  This means that most of the collection would have to have been published in the last decade.  A strong emphasis is put on science, technology, and current events books to have even more rotation due to the rapid changes in information.

We are working to put in more slat wall on the southeast wall and it will house the high school/adult fiction books.  This will have the books forward facing so that when you come to look for a book, the cover is what you will see.  Books in a series will be displayed on the slat wall in the clear acrylic bins.

The goal of the library is to have it be user friendly for our students and our surrounding communities.  We want the cataloged items to be easily accessible and the information inside to be current and relevant.

If you have not, we strongly encourage you to come up and see what our library is all about.  If you want to access during the school day, please enter through the district office doors.  After school hours you can enter through the elementary door.

This is an exciting time for our library and we can not wait to share it with all of you!
