Community mural project is nearly complete

The Community Mural Puzzle Project is ready for installation, as all 39 1,000-piece puzzles have been assembled. We are awaiting return of two puzzles and then we are ready to mount collection for display at Henning City Hall and Landmark Center. Look for installation in the next few weeks. Out of 39,000 puzzle pieces we only lost three, well done and thank you to all community members that had a piece in this project. “This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from Lake Region Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage fund.”
The Henning CHAT Bike Rodeo is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6 from 5-7p.m. in front of the Landmark Center. Join us for bike safety checks, free helmet fittings, safety obstacle course, bike drag racing, 12-bike giveaways, and picnic lunch with dessert.
Thank you to Lake Region Electric Coop for grant funding to help us build a 16’ stage in our patio area for summer events. We have another grant request in with Lake Region Arts Council which we hope will make available some of our summer workshop events, including Blacksmithing demo, Wood carving, Watercolor Batik painting, Kids Arts Camp, and a documentary Film Screening and artist talk. Fingers crossed we will soon get our funding to make this happen.
The Landmark Center will participate in the Summer Car Show series happening on main street and invite vendors to set up shop in front of the Landmark Station building. Please contact the Landmark Center to register at 548-5760. The first date is Thursday May 15, then Friday June 20, July 18, and finally Sept.19. The August car show will be held at the fairgrounds on Saturday, August 9 in conjunction with Leo’s Bash and the White Sidewalls concert.
Please mark your calendars for the Landmark annual meeting on June 11 at 5 p.m., Historic Henning Walking Tour with Chris Schuelke July 10 at 7 p.m., and the annual Corn, Brat, and Burger Feed on Thursday, Aug. 21 from 5-7 p.m. It’s going to be a busy summer in the Henning Area, get out and enjoy it.
