William Joseph Perreten, 77, of Blackduck, Minn., passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, N.D., following a massive stroke. 

William was born on January 27, 1945 in Wadena, to Dr. Earl and Bea Perreten. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Henning. He graduated from Henning High School and North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, N.D., with a degree in Civil Engineering and Surveying. After graduating he spent time serving in the United Sates Army with a tour of duty in Viet Nam. During his tour he was a recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Before his retirement in Blackduck, Minn., he worked as a bridge inspector and at Goldade Ditching in Circle Pines, MN. Bill found joy in life being a hunter, outdoorsman, and enjoyed gardening. 

Preceding him in death are his parents, Earl and Bea Perreten; and his brother, Thomas Perreten. 

Bill is survived by his daughter, Brianne Dauffenbach and her husband Mike; siblings, David (Jan) Perreten, Margaret Evavold, and Cynthia Nystrom. 

Arrangements are provided by Cease Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held later in the spring. 

He will be missed by friends and family in the Blackduck area.
