Funeral services were held for William Koplin age 86, of Champlin, Minn. on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Karvonen Funeral Home in New York Mills, with Pastor Nicholas Kandoll officiating. Military Honors were provided by the United States Marine Corps Funeral Honors team of Wahpeton, North Dakota. William was laid to rest in Emmanuel Cemetery, rural Ottertail.

William “Bill” Koplin was born on June 24, 1937 in Pine River, Minn. His parents were the late Arthur and Adeline (Kempf) Koplin. Bill grew up on the family farm in rural Ottertail. He honorable served in the United States Marine Corps from February 28, 1957 to November 19, 1958 serving his country overseas in Okinawa Japan. He also served in the Marine Corps Reserves until February 27,1963.

On July 7, 1962 Bill married Mary Jo. They were married for 10 years as their marriage was blessed with four daughters Holly, Corine, Lori, and Julie. Bill worked for MTC in St Paul for over 37 years driving city bus and was also a driving instructor. In his spare time, you could find him under the car or under the hood tinkering with his cars. Bill had a passion for “Good” music and loved playing his accordion at family gatherings and with friends. Bill also enjoyed bowling, and dancing to polka’s or gliding around to a waltz. He was always up for a game of cribbage and Yahtzee. His most favored times were family gatherings or just meeting up for coffee. No matter how far, driving was always a pleasure in the comfort of his big rides with plenty of room for passengers.

On May 31, 2024, William passed away peacefully at the age of 86. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Preceded Bill in death were his parents; daughter Holly Jo; siblings: Sonny, Verlin, Betty, Arlene, Joyce, and Lois.

Willaim is survived by daughters: Corine (Bruce) Johnson, Lori (Mike) Hamerly, Julie (Bob) Brown, eight grandchildren, sister LaVon and many family and friends.
