Wayne, age 66, passed away surrounded by his family on September 8, 2026, at his home in Deer Creek.
Wayne was born to Charles and Irm (Meyer) Perkins on August 17, 1960, at Wesley Hospital in Wadena. He attended Deer Creek School where he played on the 9-man football team winning state two years in a row. Farming was in his blood, as he was known to be setting up his fields in the dirt as a young boy. After graduating from Deer Creek High School, he continued his education and obtained an associate’s degree in Diversified Agricultural Production from the University of Minnesota in Crookston. Returning home after college he continued to farm for the next 40 years.
A dedicated family man, always quick with a joke, and even quicker to lend a helping hand in the community. He volunteered with the Deer Creek Fire & Rescue for 36 years, was a member of the Deer Creek Lions Club, served on the Wadena-Deer Creek School Board, and was an active board member at Joyful Spirit Methodist Church.
Wayne was united in marriage with Lori J. Voge on August 26, 1989, at Deer Creek United Methodist Church and had two children, Stephanie and Mandy.
