Funeral Mass was held for Roxanne Hammer, age 58 of Henning, on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 11 a.m. at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Henning with Fr. LeRoy Schik celebrating. The hymns were sung by the congregation, accompanied by Paul Malecha. Pallbearers were: John Barker, Steve Hammer, Lori Hammer, Eric Hammer, Matt Hammer, Sean Hammer. Roxanne was laid to rest at St. Edward’s Catholic Church Cemetery, Henning.
Roxanne Marie Hammer was born on January 21, 1963, in Wadena. Her parents are Elizabeth “Betty” (Cichy) Barker Saari and the late Walter Barker. Roxanne graduated from Henning High School with the class of 1981 and attended Alexandria Vocational Technical College.
On October 28, 1982, Roxanne was united in marriage with Ronald Lee Hammer at the Baptist Church in Henning. Roxanne and Ron have made their home in Henning and their marriage was blessed with two children: Ryan and Rachael.
Roxanne was employed at Future Products in Henning until they closed in 2004. For the last 17 years Roxanne was employed as the In-House Sales Manager with Shoretex Fabric in Fergus Falls. Surprisingly, after her many hours of work, she was still able to share her enthusiasm of life, two days a week, as a Walmart associate.
In her free time Roxanne enjoyed doing various alterations and sewing projects. She loved spending time with her five grandchildren, fishing, swimming, and riding her Harley-Davidson.
On November 18, 2021, Roxanne passed away at the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, N.D., surrounded by her family, at 58 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding her in death was her father, Walter.
Roxanne is survived by her husband of 39 years, Ronald Hammer; children: Ryan (Kelsey) Hammer; Rachael (Casey) Johnson; five grandchildren: Brody, Maverick, Gunner, Kinsley, and Kaylee; grandmother, Laura Cichy; mother, Betty (John) Saari; sister, Lori (Steve) Hammer; brother, John (Kristine) Barker; many other relatives and a host of friends.
