Ronald Aldo Olson age 93 of Clitherall, passed away on January 10, 2026, at his home surrounded by loved ones. Ron was born on a farm near Almora, in Elmo Township on June 22,1932

Ron’s mother died when he was 13, he then went to live with Uncle Art in California and returned years later to Deer Creek to farm with his uncle Adolph. After a period of time working on the farm, he moved to Wichita, Kansas where he worked for Boeing aircraft. Ron was also employed as a DHI Tester for area creameries. After that, he worked various jobs eventually landing in Fargo, N.D., where he attended barber school and practiced barbering for a number of years.  Ron had many different jobs including law enforcement officer and maintenance man; he was always ambitious and strived to provide a good living for his family. Ron was well known for being a beloved school bus driver for the Wadena school district and lastly Underwood School District where he transported children to school until he was 91 years old.

On June 13, 1959, Ron and Vivian Porter were united in marriage at Grace Lutheran Church in Henning. They had twin girls Linda and Brenda, who only lived a short time and died in infancy. They later had Terry in 1961 & Kevin in 1967.  In 1984 Ron and Vivian bought their retirement home near Clitherall Lake and lived there happily together until Vivian’s passing in 2018. Ron continued to reside in their retirement home until the day of his passing. 

Ron is preceded in death by his parents: Aldo and Lydia Olson; In-laws: Hartzel and Mertie Porter and two infant daughters Brenda and Linda.

Ron is Survived by son’s Terry Leroy Olson of Clitherall, and Kevin Lee Olson of Dent; Sisters-in-law: Yvonne Olson of Fergus Falls, Leona Porter of Deer Creek, and Gerald (Peggy) Porter of Deer Creek; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Rocket Ron will be missed by many.
