Renell Louise Deckert, age 76, longtime resident of Henning, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, March 10, 2026, while in the care of Centra Care in St. Cloud, Minn.

Renell was born October 22, 1949, to Esther Heinis and Henry Eckhoff. One month later, on November 13, she was baptized in the eyes of the Lord and blessed with eternal life.  From the time she was confirmed in May of 1963 to the time of her death six entire decades later, Renell was a faithful servant of Christ.  She went to church every Sunday, attended Bible study every Monday morning, and faithfully appeared for every meeting she could.

Renell enjoyed sewing, going to movies with friends, spending time with her grandchildren, word puzzles and anything involving bananas – she even knew when B&D’s got their weekly shipment. She was known for her quick wit, which was always delivered with a mischievous spark in her eye, along with her instinct to say “yes” before you even finished asking for help. Her selfless nature and steady kindness touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Renell leaves behind her two children: Matthew Deckert and Jennifer (Eric) Ternand; her six grandchildren: Eleonora (Raum) Deckert, Lovett “Louis” Riley, Noah Archer, Aiden Deckert, Amelia Deckert, and Faith Schreiber, who were the joy of her life; her brother Jerry (Kathy) Eckhoff; three nephews: Peter (Jane) Eckhoff, Jon (Lisa) Eckhoff and Josh Eckhoff; and a close-knit circle of loved ones, including Dorothy Eckhoff, Karen Flom, and Rita Ellenson.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry, her mother, Esther, her stepfather, Sandy, and her favorite cousin Dewey.

Renell will be remembered for her faith, her humor, her warmth, and her unwavering willingness to help others.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 5-7 p.m. at the Belmont-Karvonen Funeral Home in Henning, MN, with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. The Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Henning.
