0Ramon Lopez, 52 of rural Battle Lake died Sunday, August 1, 2021.
Ramon Lopez was born on August 28, 1968, in Zamora, Michocan, Mexico the son of Ramon and Juana (Zavala-Padilla) Lopez. He was raised in Zamora and in 1991, Ramon moved to Portland, Ore., where he was employed with Northwest Pipe Company doing pipe coating. In November of 1999, he moved to Battle Lake, and started with Bimbo Bakery in Fergus Falls, where he was still working at the time of his death and had received various Employee Safety Awards.
Ramon married Theresa Moen on July 15, 2002. They lived by Battle Lake where he enjoyed gardening, was known for making salsa, canning, cooking, and sharing the abundance with family and friends, Ramon enjoyed giving. He was an avid fisherman, enjoying both summer and winter fishing, the cold never bothered him and he loved to use his smoker. He watched Mexico Soccer Games which he really enjoyed. He loved camping with his family, cooking over the fire, and having bonfires. He loved romantic Spanish music and would say in Spanish “Bailamos,” which means “We Dance.”
He is survived by his wife, Theresa; six children, Carlos Lopez, Claudia (Jose Santos Ortiz-Chavez) De Ortiz, Sandra De Valladares, Ramon (Allison Bristlin) Lopez-Moen Jr., Mateo Lopez-Moen and Kayetana Lopez-Moen; brothers; Benjamin Cendejas, Miguel Lopez, and Jose Luis Lopez; sisters; Rosa (Rafa Castillo) Lopez, Carmela (Antonio Morales) Cendejas and Lourdes (Florentino Vieyra) Lopez stepbrothers and stepsisters; Arturo Lopez, Jorge Lopez, Ramon Lopez, Lupe Lopez, Rosa Lopez, and Jesus Lopez, father and mother-in-law, Ron and Ruby Moen; two sisters-in-law; Chrys (Chris Ronning) Kirschbaum and Kim (Brad) Cameron; brother-in-law, Ryan (Cyndi) Moen; and by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Ramon was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon Lopez Tafoya and Juana Zavala-Padilla; one brother, Carlos Cendejas-Zavala; one sister, Maria Luisa Cendejas-Zavala and two nephews; Angel Cendejas and Angel Villa-Maravilla.
Celebration of Ramon’s Life was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church of Amor, with visitation two hours prior to the service (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.).
