Michael “Mike” Warren Holt, age 74, a resident of Moatsville, passed away Thursday September 18, 2024 in the Louis A Johnson VA Medical Center. Mike was born November 3, 1949 in Faulkton, South Dakota a son of the late Warren Dean and Beverly June (Miller) Holt. Mike was united in marriage in September of 2010 to Mavis Marie (Mack) Holt.

Mike was drafted to the US Army and served our country from July 1969 – February 1971. His tour of duty was in Vietnam, where he served as a medic. Mike received the Bronze Star, Bronze Accommodation Medal, Heroism Bronze Star Medal, and the Achievement in Grounds Operation.

Mike retired as an administrator from Alderson- Broaddus University in 2014. His work started with Alderson-Broaddus in 1982. He also worked as PA for Broaddus Hospital. Mike was an avid archer especially with the long bow. He made his own arrows, enjoyed attending archery shooting events. Mike also enjoyed deer hunting, golfing, bicycling. He was very interested in history. Mike liked woodworking, and anything he could do with is hands, he always has a project of some kind he was finishing or tending to. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving is his wife Mavis Holt; children Delores Bonnell, Danny Holt, Rachael Pizano, Damaris Bergeson, and Connie Awtrey; eleven grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brothers George, Jeff, Steve, and Brad; and several nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents Warren and Beverly Holt; first wife Patty (Mercer) Holt.

In following with Mike’s request cremation will be honored. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Hospice 1002 S. Crim Ave. Belington, WV 26250.
