Margery “Margie” Teckla Newman was born on August 19, 1955, in Wadena, to Leon and Hedy Newman. She attended Deer Creek High School and graduated with the class of 1973. Following her graduation, Margie made her home in the Twin Cities.

She took pride in her fall decorations both interior and exterior, was good at needlepoint, and loved puzzles and looking through cookbooks. Margie had a deep love for her nieces and nephews, treating them as if they were her own children.  She also loved baking holiday cookies for the family, making sure to bake everyone’s favorites and always looked forward to girls weekends with her sisters and nieces

Margie passed away on September 7, 2025 in Maple Grove, Minn., at 70 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Margie in death are her parents; sister, Liz and brother, Bob.

Margie is survived by her brother, Rich Newman of Deer Creek, sisters, Judy (Brent) Doolittle of Henning; and Jan (Phil) Jean of St. Michael, Minn.; brother-in-law: Randy Johnson; four nieces, four nephews, five great-nieces, four great nephews; many other relatives and a host of friends.

Margie’s kindness and devotion to family will be fondly remembered by those who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to all who mourn her passing. She was a beloved member of the Life Assembly Church in Maple Grove.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at Karvonen Funeral Home in Wadena. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. A private family burial will be held.
