0Manila Kay (Johnson) Wiebe, age 81 of Ottertail, died on Thursday, February 3, 2022, peacefully with her family by her side.
Manila Kay (Johnson) Wiebe was born June 16, 1940 in Wadena to her parents, Charles Lavern “Red” and Ruby Alvina (Persons) Johnson. She attended rural elementary schools.Manila graduated from Henning High School in 1958. She always treasured the time spent with all of her classmates. Manila attended Teacher Training School in Fergus Falls. She taught school in Oscar Township and Richville. Manila worked for the Post Office in Ottertail for 3 years.
Manila married the love of her life Delmar C. Wiebe on July 2, 1960. Manila and Delmar were foster parents for Otter Tail County for 60 years, extending their love and home to over 150 children.
In addition to foster care, Manila and Delmar ran and operated Wiebe’s Garage for 58 years. Manila took great joy in gardening, and then canning the produce from her garden. There was always a jar of pickles at the ready! Knitting, reading, and spending time with family was what she treasured most.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Red and Ruby Johnson, brother Tim Johnson, and sister Lori Johnson.
Manila is survived by her husband, Delmar, son David (Teresa) Wiebe of Perham, Cathi (James) Pellerin of Nederland Texas, and Kim McCash of Fergus Falls; sister Jane Johnson, and brother Brad Johnson. Grand children: Megan Wiebe, Christopher Wiebe, Aaron Pellerin, Ethan Pellerin, Matthew Thurin. Great grand children: Emerson Merkel, Kennedy, Mckinley, and Briar Pellerin.
Manila had requested no funeral service at this time, a celebration of life will be held this summer.
