Funeral services were held for Mabel Wangerin, age 99, of Almora, on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Lee and Pastor Angland officiating.  Pallbearers were Danny Hendershot, Jay Wangerin, Jeff Wangerin, Jack Wangerin, Anthony Wangerin, and Alex Wangerin. Honorary Pallbearers were Dennis and Theresa Behnke. Mabel was laid to rest in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Almora.

Mabel Bertha Eggert was born on November 21, 1926, to Harry and Ida Eggert at their home in North Effington Township. Mabel was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, North Effington. Mabel was a faithful and active member and organist of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Almora for 33+ years.  She also taught Sunday school, vacation Bible school, was a member of Ladies Aid, and L.W.M.L.

On May 29, 1943, Mabel was united in marriage to Adolph (Addie) Wangerin in Henning. Their marriage was blessed with nine children. Together they made their home in Almora, where Mabel was a news correspondent for the Parkers Prairie Independent Newspaper and the Henning Advocate for 33 ½ years.

Mabel loved making quilts for her family, she also enjoyed embroidery, sewing, and free hand drawing, dancing, cooking and bird watching. She had a large collection of bird figurines. She was a kind and loving caretaker of family, friends and neighbors. A blessing to all who knew her.

On September 1, 2026, Mabel went to meet her Lord.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Mabel in death are her parents; husband, Adolph (Addie); brothers: Adolph, Ben, and Orlin Eggert; sisters: Olga Eggert; Lorinda Verbeck; and Valada Eggert; and son: Roger Wangerin.

Surviving Mabel are her children: Loretta (Lew) Gutzmer of Henning; Jerald (Judy) Wangerin of Silver Springs, Florida; Susie (Al) Miller of Wadena; Jolaine (Randy) Johnson of Wadena; Janice Robbins of Bryan, Texas; Don (Bonnie) Wangerin of Erhard; Robert (Amy) Wangerin of Pillager; and Eugene Wangerin of Becker; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; 10 Godchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.
