Memorial services were held for Jerry Jorud on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Belmont-Karvonen Funeral Home in Henning, with Clergy, Todd Wooden officiating. The honorary pallbearers were Steve Eckhoff, Larry Wallevand, Justin Volkman, Tim Eckhoff, Bob Rehm, Brent Rehm. Eulogies were given by Ryan Jorud and Steve Eckhoff with a special poem read by Annette Jorud. Military Honors were provided by the Minnesota Army National Guard of Moorhead, Minnesota. Jerry was laid to rest in Good Shepherd Cemetery, Henning. In Lieu of Flowers, please donate to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Jerry C. Jorud was born on June 2, 1946, in Wadena. His parents were the late Cornelius and Zoe Caroline (Svarvari) Jorud. Jerry attended country school in Folden Township and graduated from Henning High School with the class of 1964. He continued his education at Wadena Vocational Technical College where he graduated with a degree in auto mechanics.

On January 20, 1968, Jerry was united in marriage with M. Carolyn Whitley at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Henning. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Ryan, Joni and Steven. Together Jerry and Carolyn resided near Henning where they raised their children. Jerry was employed with various jobs until he was employed at 3M in Alexandria for 35 years, retiring in 2004.

During his retirement Jerry enjoyed working at the Battle Lake Liquor Store and working on his Rumely Tractors and showing them off in Dalton, Finn Creek and England Prairie. Jerry loved his dogs, spending time with his grandchildren, mowing the yard, bluegrass and old country music, playing cards, old cars and especially doing anything with 2-cylinder tractors.

On September 5, 2023, Jerry passed away peacefully at his home in rural Henning, at 77 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Jerry in death were his parents, Cornelius and Zoe Jorud.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, M. Carolyn Jorud of Henning; children: Ryan (Annette) Jorud of Fergus Falls; Joni (Joel) Detko of Glenwood; Steven (Denise) Jorud of Alexandria; 15 grandchildren: Brittney, Hayley, Quentin, Grady, Harper, Griffin, Logan, Nathan, Kelsey, Jaeden, Jenna, Alyssa, Christopher, Kade and Carter; 4 great-grandchildren: Jasper, Jamie, Avery, Graclynn and baby Carlson due in January; many other relatives and a host of friends.
