Ingrid Anderson Sampo, age 74, passed away on March 12, 2025. A graduate of Henning High School and Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., Ingrid also completed studies in Fund Development at the School of Non-profit Management, University of St. Thomas, Minneapolis, Minn. She married Bernard Laverne Sampo on May 25, 2002.
Ingrid taught High School English, was a counselor in the Spiritual Care Department at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, and had a long career in non-profit Public Relations/Community Relations at Park Nicollet Medical Foundation, St. Louis Park, Minn., and Opportunities, Minnetonka, Minn., and later in non-profit Fund Development at Crystal Lake Good Samaritan Center, Robbinsdale, Minn., and Northfield Retirement Community, Northfield, Minn.
A writer of fiction, Ingrid garnered numerous publishing credits including short stories in literary magazines (eight), anthologies (five), and an e-book novella. She also wrote inspirational/historical novels about women from the Bible and cozy mysteries. Volunteerism, church activities, writing, social justice and a career in the non-profit sector were central to Ingrid’s passion for service, ‘motivated by her Christian faith.
Preceding her in death were her husband Bernard Sampo, her mother Margaret Berge Anderson, and her father Kenneth Anderson, as well as aunts and uncles Arvie and Louise Anderson, Justin and Helene (Berge) Ekse, Johan and Myra (Fink) Berge, Valborg (Berge) Solovskoy, and Eunice (Berge) Clauson, and cousins Jean Anderson, Kay (Anderson) Rhodes, James Ekse, George Solovskoy, Matthew Solovskoy, and , Betty Jo (Elmer) Neumann.
Ingrid is survived by step-children Rick (Kelly) Sampo and Cathy (Mike) Hazel, and step-grandchildren Alex Sampo, Lea Sampo, Jeremy (Megan) Hazel and Jared (Jenna) Hazel. She is also survived by cousins Ann Ekse, Candace Berge, Daniel (Janice) Berge, and cousins’ children Jonas Ekse, Jeremy (Darcy) Ekse, Justen (Sara) Berge, Sarah (Brock) Backus, Kari Lucas, Laurel (Ed) Longo, Libby Lucas, Erica (Josiah Trinidad) Lucas, Greg Neumann, Kenneth (Brooke) Rhodes.
