Memorial Services were held for Gerhardt Stueve, age 88 of Henning, on Monday, April 12, 2021 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Henning with Rev. Ronald Jobe officiating. Gerhardt was laid to rest at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Henning. 

Gerhardt John Stueve was born on August 26, 1932 in Henning. His parents were the late John and Katharina (Meyer) Stueve. Gerhardt was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Henning. He attended Henning High School, graduating with the class of 1950. Gerhardt served honorably in the United States Army, stationed in Korea from 1955 to 1956.   

Gerhardt graduated from Moorhead State University with a B.S. Degree in education in 1961 with a double major in English and History. He continued his education at Winona State University where he received a master’s degree and an Educational Specialist Degree. He taught in Tucson, Ariz., from 1961 to 1962 and then in Rochester, Minn., from 1962 to 1991.   

Gerhardt enjoyed the sport’s pages and TV sports that occupied much of his time during retirement. He was always interested in German Heritage and took four trips to Germany. 

In 2020, Gerhardt made his home in Henning, Minnesota. On March 5, 2021 he passed away peacefully at Our Home Your Home Assisted Living in Henning at 88 years of age. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Katharina (Tena) Stueve; and siblings: Walter, Charles and Melvin. 

Gerhardt is survived by his sister: Doreen (Roger) Bogen of Owatonna, Minn.; brother: Don Stueve of Mesa, Ariz.; sister-in-law: Sandy Stueve of Henning; special friend: Eileen Dietrich of Austin; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
