A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for Ruby Elaine (Moe) Nelson, age 94 of Henning (formerly of Crosby, Minn.).  Ruby will be laid to rest in Lakewood Cemetery, Crosby, Minn.

Ruby Elaine (Moe) Nelson was born on July 7, 1931, in Leroy, Minnesota, the eldest of 7 children to William and Agnes (Sorenson) Moe. She was baptized and confirmed on July 22, 1949, at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Antomba, Minn.

Ruby was a waitress at the Spina Café in Ironton, Minnesota where she met the love of her life, Muggs Nelson.

On November 26, 1948, Ruby was united in marriage to Marlin “Muggs” Timothy Nelson in Milbank, South Dakota. This union was blessed with four children: Donald, Susan, Barry and David. Ruby was employed with the Village of Ironton where she was the clerk from 1958 to 1976. During that time she also waitressed at the Sportsman’s Club in Deerwood, Minn. 

On January 24, 2026, Ruby passed away peacefully at Caring Hands Adult Foster Home in Henning, at 94 years of age.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Ruby in death was her parents, William and Agnes (Sorenson) Moe; her husband of 59 years, Dr. Marlin “Muggs” Nelson; siblings: Clarence Moe, Glennis Maruskie, Geraldine Klopfleisch and Robert Moe; son-in-law, Dal Geyer; daughter-in-law, Cindy Nelson; grandsons: Anthony Geyer, Timothy Geyer and Timothy Nelson.

Ruby’s love and Norwegian heritage will never be forgotten and forever remembered.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Donald Nelson of Brainerd; Susan Geyer of Henning; Barry Nelson of Crosby and David (Kristin) Nelson of Two Harbors; siblings: Betty Swensen of Emily and Kenneth Moe of Crosby; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
