Dr. James Lueders, 84, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, surrounded by devoted family at his beloved Evansville farm.

Jim was born February 13, 1940 in Wadena, to Fred and Clara Lueders. He was preceded in death by his parents, two older sisters, Marraine Miller and Ardell Thompson, son Jimmy, and grandson Benjamin Balgaard. Jim was a graduate of Henning High School (1958) and the University of Minnesota Medical School (1965). On July 23, 1961, he married his high school sweetheart, Charlotte Danielson. Jim’s faith in Christ, which he first professed at an early age, served as the cornerstone of his life.

In 1966, Jim established a medical clinic in Evansville in response to the community’s earnest and resolute efforts to recruit and support a local doctor. As such, he served the area for 28 years. He then provided care through the Emergency Room of the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria for an additional 8 years. His heart to serve also motivated him to hold long-term posts on local school, church, and hospital boards.

A high-school relay-track-team member, Jim passes the baton of his legacy of faith and love to his cherished posterity. In addition to his wife Charlotte, Jim is survived by daughters Cheri (Stan) Balgaard, Chrisy (Troy) Bates, Cathy (Randy) Johnson, and Cindy (Mark) Biller, son Jon (Diane) Lueders, 17 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Evansville from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, followed by a time of sharing from 7-8:00 pm. Additional Visitation and Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 31 at 12 and 1 p.m. respectively at Destiny Church near Ashby.
