Dennis Underhill, 82 of rural Vining died Thursday, November 30, 2023 at St. William’s Nursing Home in Parkers Prairie.

Dennis Mervin Underhill was born on July 15, 1941, in Bertha, the son of James B. and Esther C. (Sandahl) Underhill. He attended Country School District #33 of rural Vining and then attended one year at the Battle Lake High School. He served two years with the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Germany.

Dennis and Mary Ann Heifort were married on September 25, 1971, in Milbank, S.D. They lived in Henning until 1978, when they purchased their home south of Vining. He worked construction for Madsen-Johnson Masonry out of Wisconsin and then Johnson-Nelson Masonry of Ashby, Minn., retiring after 40ish years with Minnesota Labor #563 Union. Dennis enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and always had a good hunting dog, sitting outside watching the birds, and especially liked time spent with his family. Dennis was a member of Leaf Mountain Lutheran Church and was active with the Mountain Men’s Group.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; three children, Melissa (Paul) Hoffmann of Starbuck, Minn., Brent (Deb) Underhill of Battle Lake and Rachel Underhill of Henning; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lorraine (Jerry) Erickson of Fergus Falls, Joan Ahlff of Ottertail and Rita (Bernal) Cichy of Henning; twin brother, Darrol Underhill of Vining; and by numerous relatives and friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, numerous brothers, sisters, brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service: 1 p.m., Monday, December 11, 2023, at Leaf Mountain Lutheran Church of rural Clitherall with visitation one hour prior to the service.
