Darla Jean Kimber was born on February 22, 1960, in Wadena, the fifth of seven children born to George and Shirley (Jensen) Kimber, Sr. Darla grew up on the family farm near rural Henning and attended Henning High School. 

Darla married Jay Wipperling on September 20, 1980, and to this union was born two daughters, Heidi Jean and Shanna Jo.  Darla’s family grew to include seven grandchildren.

Over the years Darla was employed as a Home Health Paraprofessional, a Certified Nursing Assistant, and a dispatcher. 

She cherished her children and grandchild and enjoyed being involved in their many activities. Darla enjoyed many things including gardening, crocheting, playing board and card games, reading, playing piano, baking for her family, and watching the Vikings with her grandsons. 

On October 18, 2025, Darla passed away at her home in Belgrade, Minn., surrounded by her family.  She was 65 years old.  After battling illness for several years, the Lord called her home.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Darla is survived by her daughters, Heidi Wipperling and Shanna (Tim) Hopfer, grandchildren Destiny (Nic) Groen, Brandyn Anderson, Cailyn Anderson, Aiden Hopfer, Aubrey Ahrendt, Niley Hopfer, and Gavyn Ahrendt.  She is also survived by siblings George Kimber, Jr., Deanna (Rick) Hammer, Debra Crouse, Brian Kimber, Jeffrey (Jason) Kimber, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents George Kimber, Sr. and Shirley Kimber and her brother, Michael Kimber.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 27, 2025, at Cornerstone Church, 501 Front St. in Henning, at 1pm with visitation beginning at 11am.
