Born on March 16, 1936, Tony was the son of Otto and Anna (Weber) Kawlewski. He married Karen Hein on September 3, 1960, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in love and shared experiences. Their union was blessed with four sons.

Tony began his working life alongside his father on the family farm before embarking on a long career with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, where he contributed to highway maintenance. His skill behind the wheel earned him recognition as the State Rodeo Truck Driving Champion for two consecutive years.

A passionate athlete, Tony played amateur baseball and later coached amateur baseball in Henning. He remained active well into adulthood, playing on the Henning “Surge” softball team until the age of 50. His love for sports reflected his dedication to teamwork and community.

Tony cherished time spent with his family and especially looked forward to visits and activities with his sons. He found great joy in fishing trips—both locally and across the border into Canada—where he could relax and connect with loved ones.
