Funeral Services were held for Gerald Zeise, age 94 of Deer Creek, on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Deer Creek, with Pastor Don Wagner officiating. Congregational hymns were accompanied by Marcus Lueders. Pallbearers were Christina Zeise, Rebekah Finke, Cole Zeise, Jennifer O’Brien, Mandi Pratt, Zachary Zeise, Isaac Zeise, Morgan Fischer, Margaret Mattson, Elizabeth Mattson, Sophia Mattson and Samuel Mattson. Gerald was laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery, Deer Creek.  

Gerald Lester Zeise was born on November 26, 1927 to Frederick and Olive (Vick) Zeise in Deer Creek, Minnesota. He attended District #101 Spruce Lawn Country School in Deer Creek Township through the 8th grade. Then stayed home to farm. 

On April 6, 1952, Gerald was united in marriage to Margaret Hanebuth at Trinity Lutheran Church in Deer Creek.  

Gerald and Margaret made their home on Gerald’s folks’ family farm for three years. They purchased their own farm in Compton Township in 1955 where they farmed hand in hand and raised their family. In 1990 Gerald and Margaret retired from farming and made their home in Deer Creek, Minnesota. Gerald enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and elk hunting in Darby, Montana. His favorite thing in life was farming the land and also snowmobiling in his younger years. He was a charter member of the Deer Creek Rod & Gun Club and member of the Deer Creek Lions. 

On October 23, 2022 Gerald passed away peacefully at the Lakewood Care Center in Staples, Minnesota at 94 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Gerald in death are his parents: Frederick and Olive Zeise; siblings: Bernard, Herbert, Harold, his twin brother, Gordon, Mabel, Lucille, and Eunice. 

Gerald is survived by his loving wife: Margaret; children: Daryl (Judy) Zeise of Deer Creek; Jerry (Deborah) Zeise of Cambridge; Gary (Laura) of Wadena and Mary (Jeff Mattson) Zeise of Baxter; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; “My Baby Sister” Dorothy Waskosky of Elk River; sister-in-law, Carol Perisian of Bradenton, Florida; many other relatives and a host of friends. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Lutheran Island Camp or Trinity Lutheran Church in Deer Creek.
