Girls team captures first place, boys finish in second at six team meet

Norah Froslee captured first place by just .09 seconds as the Otter Tail Central Bulldogs captured first place at the Pelican Rapids Invite last week. Froslee paced the Bulldogs, who had four runners in the top 10 overall, on a hilly course with cold weather with a time of 21:30.1. The meet was held at Birchwood Golf Course and included New York Mills, Bertha-Hewitt, Pelican Rapids, Verndale and Circle of Nations.

“With the course and weather not being in anyone’s favor for trying to run fast times, we switched our approach and went for running tactically,” said head coach Brady Speicher. “Racing in the moment and just being aware of what is going on around you. We are inching closer to championship season and the excited is high for what this team can accomplish.”

Also finishing in the top 10 for the girls were Laney Frost with a time of 23:31.1, Erika Heibel with a time of 23:38.2 and Kyleigh Shebeck with a time of 23:44.2. 

On the boys side, the Bulldogs took second place with four team members finishing in the top 10 individually. 

OTC runners finishing in the top 10 individually were Peter Newark who finished with a time of 18:29.3, Joseph Froslee who finished with a time of 19:16.6, Talyn Setterholm who finished with a time of 19:24.6 and Jonas Hagemeister who finished with a time of 19:37.1.

In the other races, the boys team captured first place in the junior high race with six runners finishing in the top 10, while Delia Tebrugge took first place in the junior high girls race and Josiah Mansker took first place in the junior high boys race. 

The Bulldogs will return to action on Thursday when they compete in the Perham Invitational.
