The Henning School Board set its 2018 preliminary tax levy in an otherwise light agenda on Tuesday night. The preliminary levy, which can be decreased, but not increased when it is finalized in December, was set at a 10.61 percent increase over 2017’s levy. Henning School Superintendent Jeremy Olson said one of the main reasons for the increase was due to a $78,000 debt reduction that was applied to the levy in 2017. This money was left over from the building fund and was returned to taxpayers in 2017. The money will not be in place to reduce the levy next year.
