Filing ends for November election

0Two file for Henning mayor, five for city council

Voters will not have a shortage of options for local school board and city council elections. The deadline to file and have a name placed on the ballot for the November election was on Tuesday.
In the City of Henning, Darren Wiese will seek a third term as mayor as he filed for re-election. He will be challenged for the two-year position by Robert Johnson.
Five people filed for two open positions on the city council as Travis Nelson, Jesse Hermanson, Caleb Horn, Mallory Loock and Scott Johnson all filed for election. Incumbents Jim Haberer and Tammy Fosse did not file for re-election.
In the City of Ottertail, Ron Grobeck will seek a second term as mayor. He was the only person to file for election for the two-year position.
For the city council, incumbent Jill Carlson will be joined on the ballot by challengers Elizabeth Augustus and Judah Burlingame. There are two open spots on the city council, each being for four years. Incumbent Jessica Grimes did not file for re-election.
In the City of Vining, Phillip Rudell filed for an open city council position, while Lynda Rubink filed for re-election as mayor, Kimberly Gilbertson filed as treasurer and Bruce Taylor filed for election as city clerk. All of the positions will be unchallenged on the ballot.
Two people have filed for the position of mayor in the City of Deer Creek. Incumbent mayor Troy Beiswinger will seek a second term at the helm of Deer Creek and is being challenged on the ballot by former mayor Tom Svarvari. Incumbent city council members Robert Lund and Jayme George also filed for re-election for the city council.
Voters will also have a decision to make when it comes to the Henning School Board as four people have filed for three open spots on the school board. Incumbents Terry Oscarson and Matt Reinbold have filed for re-election for a four year term on the school board and will be challenged by Katie Haberer and Andy Eckhoff. Incumbent Deb Hart did not file for re-election.
