Kenneth Raymond Skjegstad, 90, of Moorhead, Minn., passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2022, in Eventide Nursing Home, Moorhead, Minn. 

Kenneth was born on October 18, 1931, at the home of his parents, Edwin and Anna (Olson) Skjegstad, in Henning. He graduated from Henning High School in 1949 and from Minnesota State University (then MSTC) Moorhead, Minn., in 1953. After teaching in the high school at Nashwauk, Minn., he attended graduate school at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), receiving his PhD in botanical science in 1960. After teaching at the University of California, Santa Barbara and the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, he returned to Moorhead where he served as professor in the Biology Department at MSUM until his retirement in 1994. 

Ken was a passionate reader and he loved to do crossword puzzles in the paper every day.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin, and Anna; sisters, Sylvia, Luella, Agnes, Myrtle, and baby Camilla who died at birth; brothers, Arnold, Clifford, and Wesley. Ken was a beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews and a true friend to many. 

A memorial service will be held in the summer of 2022 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Henning. Final resting place will be at Trinity Cemetery in Henning.
