Manila and Delmar Wiebe have recently sold the Wiebe’s Garage building in downtown Ottertail. The building was constructed by Delmer’s dad in 1927 and has been in the Wiebe family ever since. Delmar is 82-years-old and still plans to fix up cars near his home in Ottertail, just not in his downtown shop.
A new co-op is allowing Henning students to participate on a high school hockey team. Tyler Reese is the lone Henning player on the Wadena-Deer Creek co-op hockey team, which also includes students from New York Mills, Sebeka, Staples-Motley and Henning.
Harrison (Jack) Schmitt, the last man to set foot on the moon in December 1972, is a resident of New Mexico who has fond memories of spending time at the family cabin along Girard Beach on the north side of West Battle Lake. On Dec. 17 Schmitt attended the funeral of former astronaut John Glenn in Columbus, Ohio. Glenn, the first American to orbit the earth, blazed the outer space trail for Schmitt and the other 11 astronauts who landed on the moon from 1969 to 1972.

In appreciation for staff members’ input into the development of a new geriatric chair, the Henning Nursing Home recently received a complimentary chair from its creator, Homecrest Industries, Inc., of Wadena.
Kristine Rokes, of Deer Creek, was injured when the car she was driving was struck by a feed truck on Hwy. 210 four miles east of Henning.
One of the major business renovations that took place in Henning in 1991 was the upgrading of the facilities at Denny’s North Star. A new brick overlay on the exterior, a new paint job, a blacktopped parking lot, a new canopy and new gas pumps, featuring a change to the Conoco brand, were completed before winter set in.

The Christmas bowling tournament came to an interesting climax when Bud Becker won over Joel Boche by three pins in the finals at Henning Lanes last Thursday evening.
A deer in the road resulted in quite a frightening experience for Mrs. Oscar Spanswick and grandson on their way to Urbank to visit her daughter. Mrs. Spanswick swerved the car, causing it to slide sideways down the hill and backward over an embankment.
Grocery specials at Dilly’s Fairway: ground beef, 59 cents a pound; three dozen oranges $1; sugar, 10 pounds for $1.09; sliced cold meat, 12-ounces package for 59 cents. Open every nite except Saturday until 9 and Sunday morning.

The Henning orchestra played at the Parkers Prairie ball on New Year’s night for the benefit of the baseball club.
It has been suggested that all the street crossings be raised about six to eight inches so that it will be impossible to speed through Battle Lake, says the Review.
The west-bound morning N.P. train ran into the regular freight Wednesday at Foxhome, which delayed traffic on the line about six hours. Both engines were badly smashed and the passengers were somewhat shaken up.
