0David Heard, age 90 of Henning, passed away on December 30, 2021, at Alomere Health in Alexandria, Minn. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Scott Hoecker officiating. Pallbearers were Kevin Helmbrecht, Cory Helmbrecht, Chris Helmbrecht, Michael Arvidson, Matthew Arvidson, Jason Arvidson, and Keith Markun. Honorary Pallbearers were Rochelle Isaacson, Stephanie Haack and Heather Markun-Heard. David was laid to rest at Inman Cemetery, Henning.
David Arthur Heard was born on July 3, 1931, to Arthur and Ella (Johnson) Heard in Inman Township, rural Henning, Minnesota. He attended Country School District #1431 in Inman Township through the 8th grade, and Henning High School.
On May 2, 1951, David was united in marriage to Doris Selvaag in Henning. Together they made their home on the farm where he was born in rural Henning. Their marriage was blessed with 4 children: Susan, Dennis, Beverly, and Carolee. With David’s love of farming, he and Doris have kept the farm operating together, never retiring.
David loved to polka dance with his wife. They spent summers at Polka fests in Minnesota and many winters in Texas enjoying Polka jams. In his later years he spent many hours on the lawn mower keeping the yard beautiful. He enjoyed watching the wildlife on the farm. His biggest joy was playing and spending time with the grandkids.
Preceding David in death are his parents: Arthur and Ella; and siblings: Marjorie, Olive, his twin brother Dean and Orville.
David is survived by his loving wife of 70 years: Doris; daughters: Sue (Delwyn) Helmbrecht of Henning; Bev (Rick) Arvidson of Parkers Prairie; and Carolee (Vern) Haack of Hoffman, Minn.; son: Denny (Patty) Heard of Minneapolis, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 4 foreign exchange student “granddaughters”; 26 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law: Marty Selvaag of Indianapolis, Indiana; many other relatives and a host of friends.
