Hornets edge Panthers by a score of 71-65 for eighth straight win

Tyson Misegades scored 7 points in last week’s game against Parkers Prairie. The Hornets have opened the season with eight straight wins.

When the Henning Hornets and Parkers Prairie Panthers take the court there are two things that typically take place—the game will come down to the wire and it will be a physical contest between two rivals.

Both were the case on Tuesday night as the Hornets overcame a 37-32 halftime deficit to defeat the Panthers by a score of 71-65 on the road. 

“This was a physical battle without a lot of flow because it was so rough,” said head coach Randy Misegades. “Our guys faced some adversity, but responded in a positive way.”

As a team, Henning shot lights out from the field, even though they struggled a bit from behind the 3-point line. The Hornets shot 53 percent from the field and were 20-30 from inside the 3-point line.

Tanner Arndt led the way offensively as the senior scored 28 points off of just 10-12 shooting from the field. He also added 3 assists. 

Mason Hammer scored 17 points and pulled down 7 rebounds, while Kale Misegades scored 10 points to go along with 4 assists. 

Tyson Misegades scored 7 points and played well defensively by coming away with 5 steals. Calvin Stueve scored 4 points to go along with 5 assists, Carter Dilly scored 3 points and Lane Dilly scored 2 points to round out the scoring. 

The win improves the Hornets to 8-0 as they will get some time away from the court during the Christmas break. The Hornets will return to action on Jan. 6 when they host Verndale. 

Misegades said the time away from the court will give the team a chance to get some rest, before getting back on the court after Christmas break.

“The time off comes at a good time for us,” said Misegades. “We’ve played a lot of games in a short stretch of time. It will be nice to get some guys healed up before we play again.”

Henning is currently 8-0 on the season and 3-0 in the Park Region Conference. They are the ninth ranked team in the QRF and trail just New York Mills in the QRF rankings in Section 6A as the Eagles are ranked fourth. 

The Hornets are currently averaging 66.3 points per game on offense and surrendering 46.7 points per game on defense.
