Funeral Services were held for June Wangerin, age 92, of Henning, (formerly of Parkers Prairie) on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie, with Pastor Kirk Lee officiating. Pallbearers were all of June’s grandchildren. June was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Almora. 

June Mae Wangerin of Henning, passed away on November 17, 2021, at her home “Caring Hands” at 92 years of age with family at her side. 

June was born on June 2, 1929, in Crosby, N.D. to Awald and Hulda (Krebs) Wangerin. She was baptized on December 8, 1929, in Outlook, Mont. The family moved to Ottertail, and later to a farm near Henning. 

June was confirmed on July 8, 1945. She was one of 6 students in the first class to be confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Almora.

On October 6, 1947, June married Lawrence Wangerin. They were married for over 50 years. Together, they were faithful members of Redeemer Lutheran Church until its closure on July 6, 1994. They then joined Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie. 

Lawrence and June farmed in Folden Township for 30 years. They moved to Almora and lived there for 20 years. Lawrence passed away on August 13, 1998. June then moved to Parkers Prairie. In Fall of 2019 she moved to Caring Hands Adult Foster Care in Henning.  

June was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Special people called her Mom and Grandma June. When she lived at home, the coffee pot was always on, and baked items were always available. 

June loved her flowers, gardening, canning many years of pickles and making jars of jelly. June and the girls did a lot of field work when Lawrence worked road construction for 30 years. The girls would laugh while deciding who would drive the tractor beside the rest that would pick rocks. 

June enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing, and reading her Bible. She enjoyed visiting and having dinners with her families. 

June is preceded in death by her husband: Lawrence; parents; brother: Herbert; half-sister: Ellen (Ervin) Ziesemer); sister: Burdeen (Orlin) Johnson; sons-in-law: Randy Zimmerman; Milo Wark; and James Reineke; grandson: Matthew Ranstedt; and niece: Bonnie Hanson. 

June is survived by her daughters: JoAnn Reineke of Henning; Beverly Wark of Breckenridge, Minn.; Joyce (Tim) Malmgren of Parkers Prairie; Lois Zimmerman of Parkers Prairie; and Bonnie (Lynn) Adam of Parkers Prairie;12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Mabel Wangerin of Parkers Prairie; special family: Dennis (Jeanette) Bast and their daughters; and a host of nieces, nephews, “Caring Hands” staff, and residents.
