0The Hornet trap team recently completed its Fall Trap League. The team shot 5 weeks of scores throughout September and October.
This year’s fall participants were: Seniors: Vincent Graham, Juniors: Dominic Campell, Brody Mesker, Noah Roggenkamp, Sophomores: Cayden Dittberner, Carter Kenyon, Freshman: Jack Reinbold, eighth graders: Josh Larson, Jacob Menze, William Schwartz, Cade Strege, seventh graders: Luke Schmidt, Caleb Watercott, and sixth graders: Ella Horn and Isaac Schmidt.
The shooters all had a great season and the fall is when the team really hones in on the basics and gets to try some new things as they prepare for the spring season. Coach Dakota Aeling is really excited to get this group rolling into their spring season.
“We have a lot of new shooters which is great to see, some young men and women coming up that are going to do great things. Some of our upperclassmen are going to have to step up and fill some big shoes this spring. This group of upperclassmen have been around the trap range before and we will be looking towards them to lead our team this spring. We had a lot of fun this fall and to watch the improvements made by both veteran and new shooters is awesome to see, we are going to have a lot of fun this spring,” he said.
Aeling said he is hopeful the team will be able to add a few more people to the trap team this spring.
“We are hoping to add a few more interested students to our roster, I know of a few students who are going to shoot with us starting this spring, they just couldn’t make their schedules work out for the Fall League. Adding more shooters is only going to make us better. With the current situation with ammunition I am not sure if my athletes realize what kind of opportunity they have, you don’t hear very often anymore about anyone going out to just ‘shoot’ a round of trap for fun. Finding the ammo to do so just isn’t easy, luckily that is something that our team doesn’t have to worry about,” he said.
The trap team would like to thank a few people/organizations who have supported them continuously over the years in various ways. A special thank you to these people/organizations: the Henning Rod and Gun Club, the Henning School Board, and Dwayne Augustus-Ottertail Marine.
