Arndt, Severson crowned Henning School royalty

0Homecoming week kicks off at Henning School

Tanner Arndt and Emma Severson were crowned as the Henning School Homecoming King and Queen on Monday afternoon. Arndt is the son of Jeff and Sally Arndt, while Severson is the daughter of Eric and Amy Severson.
Coronation kicked off a busy week of activities for students and staff members at the school, which will culminate on Friday night with a football game against Pelican Rapids in Battle Lake and a dance/bonfire at the Henning Event Center.
In addition to Arndt and Severson, the homecoming royal court included king candidates Kyle Tierney and Joseph Turchin, as well as queen candidates Annika Miller and Mackenzie Suchy. The crown bearers were Judah Horn and Makenzie Andrews.
The high school dress up day on Monday was country day, while the elementary dress up day was cowboy day. Students also had the chance to decorate their hallways in a friendly competition to see which hallway has the most school spirit.
On Tuesday the high school students dressed up as their favorite celebrity for celeb day, while the elementary students donned their hair gray and wore a pair of suspenders for old person day. The dodge ball tournament also got underway on Tuesday and will wrap up on Thursday.
The high schoolers will be dressing up in their pajamas and togas on Wednesday, as the elementary students will roll right out of bed in their favorite pair of pajamas for PJ day.
On Thursday the dodge ball tournament will wrap up as the high school students will celebrate decade day. Each grade will have a different decade theme will represent with the seniors donning clothes from the 1970s, juniors from the 1950s, sophomores from the 1980s, freshmen from the 1990s, eighth grades from the 2000s and the seventh graders from the 1920s. The elementary students will dress up for class color day.
Homecoming week will come to a close on Friday as all students are asked to celebrate school spirit day. The annual powder puff football game will be held on the football field and following the varsity football game on Friday night, students will come back to Henning and attend the homecoming dance and bonfire at the Henning Event Center.
