The Henning City Council held a special meeting on Friday afternoon to officially accept the resignation of deputy clerk Jessica Strege.

Strege resigned her position from the City of Henning last week.

Henning Mayor Darren Wiese asked the council if it should hold off on hiring a full-time replacement and take a closer look at the position.

Council members Tammy Fosse and Jim Haberer said they favored moving forward with seeking a person on a full-time basis for the position after there was discussion regarding transitioning the position from full to part-time.

Council member Scott Hart said since the council just approved a budget with two full-time and a part-time position in the budget, he thought the council should move forward with hiring a full-time person. That additional help would allow the new person time to learn on the job. He went on to say that the part-time administrative assistant position could still be eliminated down the road, if the city council needs to make additional budget cuts.

The council approved moving forward with looking for a full-time replacement for Strege and will attempt to bring recommendations forward as soon as possible.
