Library Happenings

Henning School

John Grisham is this weeks featured author.

Legal dramas and gripping courtroom battles are what you will find when you read one of John Grisham’s books.  He has written over 40 novels and our Henning Public and School library has 24 of them. He writes about complex characters, justice and morality; all of which will keep you turning the page.

Originally Mr. Grisham went to law school and even practiced law for nearly a decade.  He specialized in criminal defense and personal injury.  Because he has such an insight into the legal system and such a wealth of material, this makes a great foundation for his writings.

His first book, “A time To Kill,” which we have at our library, was inspired by a real life courtroom case he observed.  This book explores themes of justice, morality, and race in the American South.

Grisham’s big break came when his second novel, “The Firm” was published.  This book later became a movie starring Tom Cruise.  Grisham also writes sports fiction and a young adult series called “Theodore Boone.” He has much versatility as a writer and storyteller. With his ability to craft stories that engage the reader with knowledge of the courtroom, we are sure to have one of his books that you would like to read.

We are open on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:30-5:30 p.m. You can access us through the elementary entrance during that time or you can come up at any point during the day through the District Office entrance. We will be here waiting for you.
